The Nintendo DS is a hand console which looks a bit like a very tiny laptop only a lot smaller and instead of a keypad it has two screens one of which is the main screen and the other one is called the touch screen.

The touch screen is used to play a lot of different games. There is a small pen that slots into the side of the DS which you need to use to touch the screen but you can also use your finger on the touch screen as well but you will find it a lot easier using the pen provided.

Some games such as the pet games and cooking games use the microphone that is situated in the middle of the DS console.

There is a chat room feature and an online feature so that you can play one game on two consoles and play against each other so if there is more than one DS Lite in the house you can talk to each other in the chat rooms.  The Nintendo DS is compact and comes in a range of four different colours.
